Meera

Even in today’s world a lot of adjectives do not find synchrony with the word ‘Woman’. But history carries its own myths to reinforce time and again that… ‘Change is Constant’, and the one who can foresee this change is the real Protagonist.

Sant Meerabai is no exception to this concept. We all popularly know her as a ‘Krishnarpita’- a sheer lover and believer in Lord Krishna & probably the only one to have seen Him as a spouse. It is hard to believe that a woman, who is so emotionally dependent on one side, can be so rationally independent on the other. Meera is not only an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna but also a woman of character, of contemporary and revolutionary thought and the one who had the courage to fight against the set norms of society with the calm strength of her faith & speech. She was one of the first women to abolish the practice of ‘Sati’ & to educate women in those hard times which did not easily accept liberation. She also preached religious tolerance and profound change. The story set in the cultural backdrop of Rajasthan proceeding towards Vrindavan & Dwarika takes a scrupulous journey up to her being with the almighty.

The melodious music, artistic set and effective lighting enhances the grace of Meera.

Why Meera ...

“Meera highly inspired me as a female rebellion by difference, I liked her way of revolution. Her devotion, focus, fearlessness & commitment to self, moved me. I thought that the world hardly knows about her and this face of Meera as a social reformist should reach out to people. Neither history nor spiritual preachers have penned about her with definite authority and clarity. Her thoughts of equality and positivity towards life were way ahead of time and they still sense relevance. This life sketch is a salute to Meera as perceived by me.” – Vidyahari
